Here I try and share some tips and recipes I've enjoyed. I will also try to create recipes for things I make from scratch so that I can share my modest tasty treats with you. The recipes -- especially the ones I make up -- are more approximations, so I don't recommend them if you're not comfortable in the kitchen and comfortable winging it.
Delicious biscuits to accompany your strawberries, or any berries or fruit.
This is the result of my search for the best chocolate chip cookie recipe. You can read more about how this recipe came about here.
This is one of my favorite soups to make. It's a great treat in the winter, whether for a family supper or a fine dining occassion. Works great served in small quantities at Christmas dinners and New Year's parties.
This stock is easy to prepare and results in a lovely, dark, rich mushroomy stock that's perfect for Cream of Mushroom soup. I always use the max amount of mushrooms and mix up the varieties to get extra flavor.
A wonderful accompaniment to roast turkey and more interesting that plain old cranberry jelly from a can.
A family recipe for simple turkey gravy.
A secret family recipe revealed. This is my favorite stuffing in the entire world.
Delicious fall treat, like a tiny apple pie in a single bite! I created these for a deep-fat frying party I attended.
A rich soup, perfect for a cool fall evening. We discovered this soup on a trip to Innsbruck, Austria and fell in love. Hearty enough to make a meal of, or serve smaller portions to start a nice dinner party.
A delicious meal for a cool fall evening, and reminiscent of a maple chicken my mom used to make when I was little that was my favorite dish.
I've been grilling salmon a lot lately and have ended up with a little bit left over so I've started making salmon cakes with it. One time I used regular potatoes and then I tried sweet potatoes, which added a nice sweetness with the salmon, and a pretty color combination. You can decide which you prefer.
My favorite way to prepare Brussels sprouts, and a great accompaniment to fish or meat.
A delicious kitchen staple to have at the ready for all kinds of cooking tasks.
A delicious simple salad using the season's ripest, most wonderful tomatoes. Inspired by a dish I was served at New York City's Craft restaurant.
My favorite recipe for tart and pie crust. Comes out perfect nearly every time, and good flavor too.
I use this dough all the time to make really thin pizzas on the grill. When ready, simply roll out the dough, brush with a little olive oil, and toss on the grill. Flip after a couple minutes, add toppings, and cook until done. Easy, yummy pizza plus the fun of grilling!
I call this one "fauxvençal" because I made it up and I'm not sure it's in any way an authentic dish from Provence. It just uses some ingredients, and when I came up with the idea for dinner I was going to use olives. At the last minute, I changed to capers. Still, it's super yummy and easy!
A yummy and fun recipe for Nantucket mussels
